Despite a truce agreement under the Paris Peace Accords, concluded in January 1973, after a torturous five years of on and off negotiations, fighting continued until the North Vietnamese regular army and Viet Cong guerrilla forces overran Saigon on 30 April 1975, marking the de facto end of the South Vietnamese state although the de jure end of South Vietnam occurred on 2 July 1976 with the reunification of Vietnam.

So many Americans died for nothing. Vietnam ultimately merged under communist banner, and they seem pretty fine with it. :PepeFeelsBadMan:

US losing isn't a matter of debate, it's fact. If you fail to subdue the enemy, fail to force their surrender, withdraw all your troops and allow the enemy to achieve everything you tried to stop then you fucking lost.

US lost.

"If u make the enemy surrender they win"

US warred North Vietnam to curve the spread of influence communism had in that region

During the Cold War, the Soviet Union wanted to take over other countries and make them have the governmental system of Communism. ... As a result, the U.S. adopted a policy of "Containment", which is "Stopping the spread of Communism through military and nonmilitary ways.

With the exception of Laos and Cambodia, communism  failed to spread throughout Southeast Asia even after the failure called The Vietnam War

These “Rice Farmers” were getting military supplies from China, The Soviet Union and the Warsawpack allies. They lived in the fuckig holes and would only pop up to shoot you. Anyways we did lose the war but it was due to the extremely unpopular opinion. There was literally riots because of the war in the streets of America.  Also as many as 2 million civilians on both sides and some 1.1 million North Vietnamese and Viet Cong fighters were killed. We lost about 200 thousand which is still a high number. Obviously if we stayed in the country y we would of won, but ye and behold an American Democracy where our opinion changes every 4-8 years. ;)
